Mobile Grooming FAQ What is mobile pet grooming?

Mobile grooming policies marin20151204 13584 1bsddiu
Mobile pet grooming is a safe, convenient  way to get your dog groomed for the busy professional or busy family who wants a clean and happy dog.  As certified, professional groomers we come to you in a fully contained mobile grooming van.  Fully insured for the safety of your pet and you.

Can your van fit in my driveway?
If a UPS truck can fit in your driveway, so can we.  The van needs to be on flat  and level ground to run the generator.  There is always a flat spot close by to park the van.

What is a mat?
A mat is like having a " knot" in your hair and someone tries to comb it out with a comb or brush...ouch.

How long does the grooming take?
About an hour and half to two hours, approximately.  We can give you a better estimate of how long it will take when we first meet your pet.

What is the difference between mobile grooming and taking my pet to a grooming shop?
There is a big difference!  More convienient for you, and much less stress for your pet.  Your don't have to make two trips to the shop (one to drop off and one to pick up).  We do everything a grooming shop does... except leave your pet in a cage all day to dry.  We offer specialized one-on-one attention, something a grooming shop cannot offer.

Do you use warm water?
Yes, we use warm water and climate control. Your pet will never be too cold or hot no matter what the weather is like.

How often should I have my pet groomed?
That depends on what breed you own, your life style and how much dirty dog one can tolerate but generally speaking, it varies from client to client.  I have dogs scheduled 2, 4, 6,  and 8 weeks.  6 to 8  weeks is recommended depending on the type of coat. The nails should be trimmed at least every four weeks, and ears cleaned once a week for overall health and comfort.

Do I need to schedule an appointment?
Yes, and we recommend setting your appointments regularly so you don't have any problems getting an appointment or a certain day or time you may prefer. We are first come, first serve. Once you become familiar with us you don’t even have to be home!

Why is it more expensive to shave my pet's coat?
It is time consuming. We use a much finer clipper blade, and usually if a pet has to be shaved it’s because the hair is matted.

Do you express anal glands?
Yes lite expression and the anal glands express naturally when your pet has a bowel movement. If you believe there is a problem with your pet's anal glands, you should see a veterinarian. As always, if we notice anything unusual, we will bring it to your attention.

What areas do you service?
Marin, mostly,  If you have any questions whether or not we cover your area, give us a call.  If you are in an area I do not cover I can refer you to one of my mobile friends.

Why does it cost more to get my dog groomed than my own hair cut?
Hear are the top ten reasons:
Your hairdresser doesn't wash and clean your rear end.
You don't go for eight weeks without washing or brushing your hair.
Your hairdresser doesn't have to give you a sanitary trim.
Your hairdresser doesn't have to clean your ears.
Your hairdresser doesn't have to remove the boogies from your eyes.
You sit still for your hairdresser.
Your haircut doesn't include a manicure or pedicure.
Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.
You don't bite or scratch your hairdresser.
The likelihood of you pooping on the hairdresser is pretty slim.
Can't I just groom my pet myself?
Professional pet grooming is a demanding career and it takes years to become skilled. If you are interested in grooming your own pet, please take some things into consideration. It is very easy to injure your pet without meaning to. Dogs have a very high pain tolerance that is 4 times greater than ours, and cats have very thin and sensitive skin. For example, imagine trimming that mat behind your pet's ear when you realize you actually cut part of the ear.  Sadly, it happens all the time.
